A Journey Through History

Father Cristóbal Vilarroig, L.C., originally from Barcelona, Spain, has been a critical figure in deepening our understanding of the history of Magdala over the past few years. Since 1996, he has joined the Legionaries of Christ congregation and demonstrated a profound commitment to his vocation. He became religious in 1998 and was ordained a priest on 24 December 2024. His academic background is remarkable; he holds a Bachelor's in Theology and a degree in Philosophy from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum and a degree in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome.

Between 2014 and 2018, Father Cristobal served as a professor of Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome, sharing his vast knowledge with numerous generations of students. Since 2018, he has been pursuing a doctoral program at the École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem, with a thesis focused on the relationship between the Benedictus and Jewish daily prayer, which he will defend soon.

We announce that his series of articles, "Magdala Through History," has concluded. Through his writing, Father Cristóbal has enriched our understanding of the ties between Jewish and Christian history and the archaeological and spiritual significance of this sacred place. We invite everyone to review and read the complete collection of his articles here.

We deeply thank Father Cristóbal for his time, effort, and dedication in sharing his knowledge with our community. He has left us with an invaluable resource to deepen our understanding of Magdala's rich history and meaning.
