The season is soon beginning in which we await the coming of Our Savior, although this longing to witness the peace of Jesus always accompanies us. Our lives are that—a constant Advent, a continuous search for the Kingdom of Christ that is built within our hearts. The program: Star of Wonder: Pilgrimage to Light, which begins on November 30th, invites us, along with the Wise Men from the East, to relive this journey to find the Light of the World, amid the desert and darkness, standing firm in the strength of hope. This year, especially in times of external conflict and uncertainty—while also experiencing inner trials—we become contemporary wise men.
Faith, hope, and charity are the virtues symbolized by gold, frankincense, and myrrh, which will help us reflect in this context of external and internal shadows that we live in and to let ourselves be guided by the Star of Bethlehem.
We will begin in the first episode—like the wise men—this journey in the Judean desert, learning about their own history, culture, origin, and desires, understanding what motivated them to embark on their journey. We will advance in the second chapter towards Jerusalem, learning more about Herod, his reign, the people of Israel, their customs, and what the birth of a new king meant, as well as the hope that encouraged our protagonists to continue. Then we will go to the shepherds’ field and see how they lived out God’s designs and how faith also leads us to trust, arriving finally at our end at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, where God’s promise will shine like gold in the presence of the Prince of Peace, in the very place of Christ’s birth.
During the program, we will be guided by Kathleen Nichols, a consecrated woman, member of Regnum Christi, who will help us understand the historical context of the time of Jesus’ birth and other biblical figures, as well as the profound teachings that we can carry into our own time. For five weeks, each Sunday, beginning with the first Sunday of Advent and ending on Christmas Day, we will have a reflection on our YouTube channel and website. We also invite you to light the candles on your Advent wreath each week as a family, to participate in the sacraments, and to pray. To accompany you in this journey, we invite you to subscribe to this pilgrimage and obtain the Advent devotional material that you can follow and meditate on each day.
In this time of challenge, from the Holy Land, we want to extend a call to live and embody hope in our lives, through the words of the Word made flesh:
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Join us this season in the Star of Wonder: Pilgrimage to Light.
