37. Via Appia
Walking along the Via Appia, one of Rome’s most historic roads, we retrace Paul’s final steps into the heart of the empire (Acts 28:16). This ancient route, lined with tombs and monuments, was the path taken by travelers, merchants, and prisoners alike—including the Apostle, who entered Rome as a captive yet remained a messenger of hope. Greeted by fellow believers along the way, Paul’s journey reminds us that the Christian faith had already taken root in the imperial capital. His arrival was not one of defeat, but of mission, as he prepared to proclaim the Gospel even within the shadow of Caesar’s rule, fulfilling his calling to spread the Good News to all nations.
